National Grid Pipeline, Paerdagate Basin, Brooklyn, NY

At 0550 on 28 September, the NOAA SSC was notified by USCG D1 oil an oil spill from a pipeline operated by National Grid. The oil entered a sewer which drained into Paerdagate Basin, Brooklyn, NY. This is in Jamaica Bay and also the location of the Gateway National Park. The estimated volume of release was 1,000 gallons. No specific oil type was noted.
