Mystery Sheen, South Timbilier Block 21, LA

0n 12OCT2012, USCG MSU Morgan City contacted the NOAA SSC about a mystery sheen reported by a responsible party located 4 miles offshore of southern Louisiana. The report is of a 1.3 mi by 0.6 mi silvery sheen with 80% coverage. Overflight personnel confirm the size and location of the sheen and it is currently moving westerly. The sheen is caused by an unknown quantity of an unknown product. USCG is requesting a trajectory to determine how likely shoreline impacts are.
